About Megan
Here is a little bit about me and what led me on my journey for Curls.
My mum went to boarding school and because of that cut mine and my sister's hair short because it was easier (she did this herself). When I was old enough to care for my own hair, I grew it longer and that’s when my curls really started to come through.
At the age of 13 I started experimenting with my hair and coloured it black (I am naturally a dark blonde so this is a major) maybe this was the beginning of my career in hairdressing. Hair colour was very different in the 80s and the damage to my curls was irreversible.
In 1992 I started my hairdressing career and experimented a lot with my hair from black to blonde, shaved head and extensions. Not once in that time did I feel comfortable with my natural texture and colour.
I first heard about the CG Method from a client and read Lorraine Massey's book in the early 2000s. At that stage there were no professional products on the market here in NZ and I didn’t have much success.
In 2018 my family made the move out of Auckland to the Waikato where I started from scratch rebuilding my clientele. I lost my mother soon after that to Alzheimer’s and decided to grow my colour out and embrace my natural greys. During this, I discovered my curls again and did some more research about the CG Method.
The curl community has really grown here in NZ and the stars were aligned to start my journey with curls.
I haven’t looked back since then. I have spent every waking moment researching and gaining skills in caring for and nurturing curls. I have learnt so much from every head of Curls that sits in my chair. I've developed relationships that will continue on the journey we are all on.
My goal is to focus solely on textured hair and educate others how to embrace the Curl community.
Never have I been more passionate about hair even after 30 years of hairdressing.
I'm so excited about meeting more Curl friends and following the journey with you.

“I was unsure about whether my appointment would be worth it - but it totally was! Megan is extremely knowledgeable about curls and it really was a curl management lesson - on top of transforming my hair. Also she’s lovely and a great person to spend time with. Highly recommend.”

“Ok I am in love, never going to another hairdresser again. Thank you!! You have given me back my curl mojo and a bit of a self confidence boost.”
